It has been stated that the Twin Cities metropolitan area (7 counties) will change dramatically by the year 2030.  The area population, according to the Met Council will reach 3.6 million residents, a 39.7 percent increase from the year 2000.  Households are expected to increase by 48.1 percent to 1.5 million over that same period.  Employment will see a gain of 37.2 percent hitting 2.1 million by 2030.

Undoubtedly this will place strains on critical areas that affect the quality of life of the region:  transportation, affordable housing and development.  We have already begun to feel the stress placed on the metropolitan transportation system and it will only grow over time.

The Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORSŪ and the three other metro REALTOR associations have worked together to develop policies addressing these critical areas.
